Yes, it’s official: the internet receives as much attention as the television does. No wonder those news programs keep coming up with newer, fresher, more current format, because they realize that whatever it is they offer. The internet can offer faster. In a study done by Forrester, it shows that around 13 hours per week – that’s roughly two full hours a day – is spent online by an average person.
That’s equal to the time spent watching the television. Good old TV should really be frightened, it has been reported that internet’s total viewership (in terms of time spent by people) was a whooping 121% increase in the last five years, whereas tv’s viewership remained relatively steady. And where TV used to hod the limelight when it comes to last contact at night, it’s the internet nowadays that gets the last day’s goodbye from its users. A lot of people still tweet or post a status in Facebook, even after they have brushed their teeth and said their good night to their loved ones. In the past, it was the television which lulled people to sleep.
What’s surprising is that it’s not just the younger generation who’s gotten to spend more and more time on the internet. Gen X-ers, even babyboomers all contribute to the popularity of the internet.
